L-1 visas are for employees of an international company with offices in both a foreign country and the United States, or who want to open a new office in the United States.
The L-1 visa allows these foreign workers to relocate to the company's US office after having worked abroad for the same company for at least one year. The US office must be a parent, subsidiary, or sister company to the foreign company.
